Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has issued a serious warning to Gender Minister and Oyam South MP Hon. Betty Amongi, advising her to focus on serving her constituents rather than attempting to challenge Health Minister Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng in Lira City Woman MP seat in the 2026 elections.  

It should be noted that Oyam South MP and Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi Ongom, on 21th January 2024, she officially declared her intention to contest for the Lira City Woman MP seat in the 2026 elections, a move which sets up a political showdown with her colleague, Hon. Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, the incumbent.
