The NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) has rejected the Kawempe by-election results that were announced on 14th March 2025 Friday morning.

The ruling party’s top organ met yesterday under the chairmanship of H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and resolved to instruct its lawyers to legally challenge the results in the courts of law for justice to prevail.

CEC released a statement through Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong via his X handle @TodwongR which reads,
"The @NRMOnline Central Executive Committee (CEC), has rejected the Kawempe by-election results announced on Friday. We have instructed our legal team to challenge the outcome in court to ensure justice prevails."

The recently concluded by-election was characterized military involvement in politics , arrests and beating of journalists which goes against press freedom in a developing country like Uganda.
